Dermabrasion  (and  other surgical  techniques)  and bovine collagen injections are complementary forms of treatment for acne  scarring.  If both  are necessary, then dermabrasion should be performed first. If a few lesions are involved, it is probably more economical to advocate collagen injections, provided the scars are soft and distensible. However, when the scarring is very extensive, dermabrasion, or other surgical techniques, probably would be the treatment of choice.
