What Are The Causes of Baldness in Men?

The number one cause of baldness in men has been widely reported to be based on a persons genes. Most of the men who experience baldness do so because of their genetic makeup. Balding can begin as early as when a man reaches his early 20's. Once commenced it usually continues throughout his entire life.

The second most common cause of baldness in men is usually referred to as male pattern baldness, or MPB. Male pattern baldness is also attributed to our genetic makeup. In addition, it is also caused by the hormone Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, which is an offshoot of testosterone. Early studies show that men who have a history of male pattern baldness in their family lose their hair early on with the introduction of DHT. Those without any history of baldness in their family genes tend not to portray any hair loss.

Poor hair care is another cause of baldness in men. Some men wash their hair too much, which can also induce hair loss. Washing your hair a couple of times per week, and only when it is truly dirty, can reduce the amount of stress you place on your hair and scalp. Associated with this is the way in which you wash your hair. Hair that is regularly washed too violently can result in hair loss due to weakening of the hair follicles.

Another cause of baldness in men is hairstyle. Men with long hair who like to pull their hair back in a tight ponytail can actually initiate hair loss. While it may seem trendy and look nice, and may keep their hair from flying all over the place, it is placing quite a strain on their scalp and hair.

Certain kinds of illnesses are also responsible for causing baldness as well. Cancer is one of the more notorious. The different types of treatments required to combat this dreadful disease are so stressful on the body as a whole, that the hair is often weakened to the extent that dramatic hair loss occurs.

All of these different scenarios create just the right environment to induce your hair to fall out, regardless of how young or old you are. If you are a male and are worried about going bald, then perhaps you should take a look at how you live. Figure out what things you can change to prevent yourself from going bald and possibly live healthier and longer.
