A rapid regular atrial rhythm due to a constant well-defined macroreentrant circuit in the right atrium. Atrial flutter is muchless common than atrial fibrillation, but its hemodynamic consequences and management are similar. Digoxin, verapamil,and -blockers are useful through their blocking effect on the atrioventricular node.
